Whether it’s the clickety-clack of typewriter and computer keys or the twinkle and thrumb of piano keys, keyboards are interesting loose parts.
Simply scatter a couple of scavenged computer keyboards around the play space and maybe out on the playground if you want to get wild. Then, plop an old typewriter, manual or electric, into the dramatic play space or literacy area. Top it off with an old piano or electronic keyboard–neither needs to make a sound–with which kids can fiddle.
Kids will click away as they imagine writing stories, playing songs, launching rockets, tracking evildoers, and more.
