…when it comes to ordinary children, any assumption that we must correct some important deficiency should be abandoned. We should talk in ways that children find enjoyable. This may enhance the pleasure they take in words and foster their vocabulary. But we need to overcome any presumption that we, as adults, are in a position to teach the child the core structure of language.
