Wrap-Up
Interruptions in children’s self-directed play have negative impacts similar to those experienced by adults during focused activities. Adults busy with a task (driving, making dinner, scrolling social media, conversing with someone) can quickly grow angry and scold a child for interrupting but don’t think twice about interrupting that same child whenever they feel it’s necessary.
