In order to have good fine motor skills, children need a strong core and good shoulder stability. They need to rely on this solid base in order to devote concentration and energy toward more precise work. Once a solid base is in place, just like with gross motor coordination skills, children need plenty of practice grasping objects and manipulating them in order to develop strong and capable fingers.
